What Can We Do for Your Historic Home?

Exterior Painting and Restoration

Before painting, our team will prepare your home’s aging exterior to protect its health and appearance. This may include scraping, sanding, and chemically peeling layers of old paint, filling or caulking gaps, and replacing deteriorated wood shingles, clapboards, shutters, and other features.

We are also experienced in preparing and encapsulating surfaces coated with lead-based paint. When lead paint is present we use additional protection to manage dust hazards to the community and the paint crew.

Interior Painting and Restoration

Interior painting for historic buildings often means painting or papering over plaster (not drywall), which cracks as the building settles and sometimes results in moisture stains. Greeneville Painting corrects these problems by filling and sanding cracks and applying bacteria-resistant primer over discolored areas.

Your handsome wood trim makes your historical home unique. Don’t trust your interior paint job to a company not versed in old home preservation. Your Greeneville Painting  team will ensure that original wood trim is protected and not splattered with paint.  This is a painstaking job that requires expert cutting in at every conceivable angle.

Our interior paint process may involve stripping old wallpaper, patching/repairing cracks and nail holes in the plaster, recaulking trim/wall joints, sanding everything smooth, and removing all dust.

If your walls are covered in oil paint, special bonding primers must be used to ensure adhesion to modern, water soluble/low VOC top coats. Your historical restoration project deserves unparalleled attention to detail.
